In 2005/6 POPS contributed to a consultation process which led to the publication in 2007 of the Home Office report ‘Around Arrest, Beyond Release’ which explored the experiences and needs of families around the arrest and release of drug using offenders. The report built on previous consultations by the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) and feedback from families, the combined findings of which highlighted that families of drug misusing offenders faced particular issues around arrest and release.
The report was followed by two further documents examining the progress made and highlighting examples of current good practice as well as further suggestions for addressing some of the issues highlighted in the original report.
